While you’re certainly welcome to do your own makeup, there are a couple of reasons you might want to go with a professional. First is the experience. A photoshoot should feel glamorous and fun—and getting your makeup done by a pro makes it even more special. How to Add Makeup Services to Your Photography Package

Makeup generally takes about an hour and your session will take about an hour and a half (for maternity) to two or three hours (for newborn), so please plan accordingly!

St. Cloud, MN Baby Photographer | First Birthday Cake Smash Session | Flamingo Theme

You know it’s gonna be a party when flamingos are invited! I loved the bright, tropical flair of this flamingo themed first birthday cake smash. And baby girl’s cute little romper—complete with ruffled apron—was adorable!

The birthday girl wasn’t super into eating her cake—and yes, there were even a few tears. If you’ve ever parented a one-year-old, you know that’s not unusual at all! And as professional baby photographers, we know that too, so don’t worry! Some kids don’t love to get sticky, and for others, this is one of the first times they’ve been exposed to sugar and it can be a little overwhelming! We kept her happy for the most part though, and she did enjoy smearing some of the frosting on her legs. :)

Prior to this first birthday cake smash, we also did some portraits in a completely different theme. Baby girl still has a little ways to go before she can be her parents’ hunting and fishing buddy, but it looks like she’s all ready for some outdoor adventures!

St. Cloud, MN Newborn Photographer | Bryce’s Newborn Session

This little cutie and his parents traveled from Holdingford for Bryce’s newborn session. It was a stormy day outside (complete with thunder and hail), but we’re glad they braved the weather. It’s always cozy in our St. Cloud, MN photo studio! (In fact, we recommend dressing in layers when you come! We keep it nice and toasty so that babies stay comfortable during outfit changes.)

We did a couple of different bucket setups for baby Bryce, as well as a couple of swaddles and a pillow that was just the right size for that little head. We also wanted some variety in our colors, so we chose to do some of our setups with neutrals and some with a nice combination of blue and rust.

Bryce was adorable and we’re so happy that, even though we’re about half an hour away, Mom and Dad chose Tiny Hearts Studio as their St. Cloud, MN newborn photographer!

St. Cloud, MN Children’s Birthday Photographer | Gemma’s 2 Year Birthday Session

Although the most popular birthday photography package at Tiny Hearts Studio is definitely the one year cake smash, I love celebrating other birthdays with kiddos too! It was so much fun to have Miss Gemma in my St. Cloud studio for a 2 year birthday session!

We’ve all heard of the terrible twos, but actually, 2 years old can be a really fun age as well. Children are becoming more independent and talking more, and they love to play and pretend! I certainly had a great time with Gemma. And she enjoyed playing with her balloons and testing out poses on a couple of the studio’s wicker chairs. I find that keeping things flexible and child-led makes for a fun photo experience for everyone!

St. Cloud, MN Cake Smash Photographer | Millee’s First Birthday Session | One in a Melon Theme

This was such a fun, summery cake smash for Millee’s first birthday session! I absolutely loved the “One in a Melon” theme!

To me, watermelons are definitely the brightest colored (and, yes, yummiest) melons out there, so I decorated the studio with a watermelon backdrop and lots of balloons in pink, green, and red. Makes you happy just looking at it, right?

Millee was an adorable birthday girl. She gave me all kinds of fun expressions—including a funny little pout where she would wrinkle up her nose and draw her mouth down like she wasn’t having any fun at all. Don’t let it fool you! She had a blast—and so did I!

Our watermelon cake, complete with frosting seeds, was perfect—and Millee agreed! She loved digging right in, and although I don’t know how much she got in her mouth, I know she got it everywhere else! 😊 She was wearing frosting all over herself when we finally popped her in the bath to get cleaned up. And she liked the bath just as much as the cake! Look at those smiles!

St. Cloud, MN Cake Smash Photographer | Everett’s First Birthday Session | Mr. Onederful Theme

Everett’s first birthday session was a Mr. Onederful theme. So cute! His little black suspenders and bow tie combination just killed me!

We set the studio up with a star backdrop (‘cause that’s what Everett is!) and lots of mustachioed balloons to celebrate little man’s first birthday.

The cake, complete with buttons and bow tie, was perfect, and Everett loved it! Some babies are pretty tentative about digging in, but once Everett had a taste he decided cake was awesome. The frosting went everywhere: face, elbows, tummy, legs. He even got some in his hair!

It was definitely a good idea to finish up our cake smash photography session with a bubble bath, where we replaced the frosting with soap suds!

Good thing we started off with some one-year baby portraits before things got too sticky! Everett was such a happy kiddo and I loved being his St. Cloud, MN cake smash photographer!

It isn’t often that we get to have the entire family at the studio for a maternity photography session, and I loved that Mom decided to make her pregnancy photos a family affair! I had such a great time meeting her, her husband, and their four beautiful kiddos. Every pregnancy is unique and special, and I thought it was great that this mom felt confident putting her own unique twist on her maternity pictures.

We got some maternity portraits of just mom, and also several with her and her husband together. But she really wanted most of the emphasis to be on their growing family, so most of our session focused on group shots. This combination gave us a ton of options for posing and I love the variety! It was really sweet to see the relationships between each member of this family.

This new baby is going to be so loved! What a lucky mom to have so many helping hands as she gets ready to welcome her little one! I’m so glad she chose to Tiny Hearts Studio as her St. Cloud, MN maternity photographer. Loved creating this special family maternity studio session for her!

St. Cloud, MN Maternity Photographer | Paula’s Maternity Photoshoot

Although we always recommend booking your maternity and newborn photos together, we know that, for various reasons, it doesn’t always happen. Paula had already booked her newborn session with us, but wasn’t planning on doing maternity pictures. It was such a fun surprise for her when her sister gifted Paula’s maternity photoshoot to her through Tiny Hearts Studio! Her sister really wanted this beautiful mama to have pregnancy photos to remember this special time. What better gift for a mother-to-be?

All of our maternity clients have access to our studio wardrobe, and Paula chose several elegant options in both light and dark colors, giving us a beautiful variety for her maternity photoshoot. As with most of our maternity sessions, we didn’t do a lot in the way of props. We prefer to focus on you and your beautiful, changing body! But one or two props (like a chair or posing block) can give us a few more posing options and add depth and interest.

Paula’s husband was also able to join us at our St. Cloud, MN studio location. It’s always so special to capture the love between a couple during a maternity session, and we loved being able to record the sweet relationship of this beautiful pair!

Does it get any cuter than a peaches and cream theme for your first birthday? I don’t think so! I thought this idea was just adorable and I loved setting up the studio for Rilynn’s first birthday cake smash session.

Peaches and cream lent itself perfectly to a country kitchen type backdrop, which is what we used for our one-year baby portraits. I like to do milestone photos before we break out the cake. Although cake smashes are super fun, I also want you to have some classic pictures of your little one—with a frosting-free face!

When it was time for the main event, we switched to a balloon backdrop. Party time! Don’t those warm colors make you excited for summer? And the peach-colored frosting all over that cherubic little face. I just can’t!

Rilynn and I had so much fun together! She gave me such big grins and giggles, so I just have to say it—she really was a peach! Happy birthday, cutie pie!

With twice the cuddles and twice the cuteness, I know you’re going to love the photos from Natalie and Lydia’s twin newborn photography session! As their St. Cloud, MN newborn photographer I certainly loved every minute with these two beautiful girls.

Usually, poses done with just one baby can also be done with two, as you can see from the pictures we took during Natalie and Lydia’s twin newborn photography session.

Mom and Dad wanted a variety of colors for these photos, so we chose several different combinations. We also did a few black and white baby pictures, which are always so classic!

St. Cloud, MN Maternity Photographer | Elegant Maternity Pictures

What an absolutely gorgeous maternity session this was! I’m so glad we scheduled it when we did because baby was in a hurry! This beautiful mama ended up delivering her little one the week after we took these elegant maternity pictures.

We did most of our photos with this beautiful beige maternity gown. Combined with a cloudy, marbled backdrop, this gave us a muted, almost ethereal look for our pictures. It also went so beautifully with the gold jewelry that she was wearing (a gift from her mother.)

But we also did some outfit changes, including these sleek and modern maternity dresses. The red and black was such a bold statement choice. I loved it! And it also ensured that this mom had some variety of color, style, and mood so that her elegant maternity pictures would work well with multiple color schemes and display options.

These images turned out so beautifully—and again, I’m so glad we were able to squeeze them in before baby arrived!

When it comes to little girls, we think blossoms and birthdays go hand in hand! It was so fun to design Elayne’s floral cake smash session to celebrate her first birthday. And even more fun to watch her enjoy it!

We got some adorable one year baby portraits of this sweetie to start off our session. We had set up the studio with tons of pretty pink and white flowers, plus twinkle lights for that extra bit of sparkle that every girl needs on her birthday! Elayne did a great job and gave us the cutest smiles.

But her smiles got even bigger when we brought out the cake! She loved it, and alternated between big smiles and intense concentration. Hey, decorating your toes with frosting takes a lot of focus!

We got her all cleaned up in the bubble bath later—and polished her string of pearls at the same time.

Kaylene is such a beautiful mother-to-be and we loved doing this sexy maternity shoot with her! We’re also so glad dad decided to come too—couples maternity sessions are the best!

Kaylene wanted to keep things simple, with lots of beautiful nude shots. A woman’s body goes through so many changes during pregnancy—and it’s beautiful! We love helping our mamas feel glamorous—whether that’s with mostly nude shots and a few tossing fabrics, or lots of flowing, elegant gowns and accessories.

This mama was also a total natural in front of the camera, but if you feel nervous about that side of things, don’t worry, we’ve got you! We’ll guide you through the poses and promise you’ll look amazing!

St. Cloud, MN Baby Photographer | Everly’s 6 Month Milestone Session

Okay, can we just draw some attention to the cheeks and the dimples going on here? Cutest thing ever! It was so much fun to do Everly’s 6 month milestone session with her and her parents. She was such a happy baby!

Loved the cute outfits mom and dad picked out—including a black one, which we hardly ever get to do for baby girls! This session took place in the summer, so it seemed fitting to use lots of plants and flowers in our setups. Bowls and swings are also great props to use for a 6 month milestone session since baby is often sitting up at this point—either with a little support or on their own—and we used lots of those too.

A baby photography session is also the perfect time to get some family pictures! We made sure to get some family shots and baby parent portraits so that Everly and her parents can have photos of the whole family at this extra fun stage of babyhood. Whether you’re putting your pictures on display, using them in an album, or sending them out as gifts, you’ll be so glad you have images of everyone together!

St. Cloud, MN Newborn Photographer | Rylan’s Newborn Session

This little guy was born eight weeks early and had a lengthy NICU stay. Thankfully he’s doing just great! His parents had already booked Rylan’s newborn session, so they rushed over to our St. Cloud, MN photography studio as soon as he was discharged to capture these newborn pictures.

This kiddo is definitely not the first baby we’ve had who decided that schedules are for other people! That’s one of the many reasons we recommend booking your baby’s photo session early so that we have plenty of wiggle room if things don’t go according to plan.

We were joined for Rylan’s newborn session by mom, dad, and Rylan’s fur-sibling! It’s always fun to have pets in the studio, and well worth the extra challenge for a kiddo to have baby pictures with their childhood pet. This doggo was very well-behaved and we’re sure will be a fantastic buddy for little man!

St. Cloud, MN Cake Smash Photographer | One Pink Birthday Session

Happy first birthday! We decided to go all girl with these milestone photos. This was one pink birthday session!

We set up the studio with tons of pink and gold balloons, a star prop (‘cause that’s what this girl is!) and plenty of twinkle lights for an extra touch of magic. As a St. Cloud, MN cake smash photographer, I know every baby is different. So I love figuring out exactly what clients are looking for and creating a custom experience just for them.

Baby girl’s pink tutu and headband were just the cutest—and so was she! We know all the tricks for getting kiddos to smile, but it’s nice when we don’t have to use many of them. She was a very happy baby and gave us lots of smiles (including a few frosted ones!)

She loved her cake! All that crinkly frosting was too much to resist, and after admiring it for a while she dug right in! Finger lickin’ good!

Cake is great, but when you’re only a year old you get as much frosting on you as in you! That’s why we usually wrap up our cake smashes with a quick splash in the tub. (That—and it makes a great photo opp!)
