Newborn Photo Session | MN Baby Photographer

Another gorgeous newborn photo session, this time with a sweet baby girl! We used a lot of white in this session. Pink for girls is traditional, but we wanted to do something a little different! Even when we threw some color in there we went for deeper shades like rust, forest green, and ruby red. As a MN baby photographer, I actually love using dark colors like that for baby girls. It’s unexpected and oh-so-pretty! (Not to mention, the red and green was perfect for the holidays!)

Choosing props is one of the many fun parts of doing a newborn photo session. From bowls to beds, baskets to buckets, we have something for everyone at both of our studio locations (in Chanhassen, MN and St. Cloud, MN.) We decided to do a little bit of everything for this baby girl!

The rest of the family joined us at the studio for these baby portraits too. We focused most of our time on baby girl, but also made sure to get some newborn and sibling images too! These are always client faves and sure to be a treasure!

Little Brother | Eden Prairie Newborn Photographer

What a sweetheart this baby boy was! The whole family came for little brother’s newborn photography session, so we were able to get the sweetest parent and sibling pictures. Big brother and sister were absolutely amazing with the new baby! Mom and Dad are lucky to have such great helpers, and posing was so easy with this group. They’re naturals!

As an Eden Prairie newborn photographer, I think all babies are adorable. But I have to admit, they’re extra cute when they have as much hair as this little bundle did! We used one hat during our session, but mostly we kept those dark locks uncovered so we could show them off!

The dark blues and grays that we picked out for little brother were so perfect! There’s a reason this is a classic color scheme for newborn baby boy pictures. (Bonus: It also tends to be super easy to find clothes to match if you’re planning on doing family shots too. Black, gray, or white shirts all work great—and who doesn’t own a pair of jeans?)

I enjoyed every minute of my time with this family as their Eden Prairie newborn photographer, and I hope I’ll see them in the studio again soon!

Studio Maternity Photos | St. Cloud, MN Maternity Photographer

Did you know that when you book with Tiny Hearts Studio, our studio maternity photos include the full package? Hair, makeup, wardrobe—you name it! We believe that professional pregnancy photos should be a chance for you to relax and enjoy the experience of being a beautiful mom model! This recent maternity photography session is a great example of the full studio maternity portrait experience.

Mom and dad both came in for the session, which was wonderful! Before we got started with the camera, our professional makeup artist took care of mom’s makeup. Doing makeup for photos can be a little different than day-to-day wear, so having a professional take care of it is just one more way to make sure your pregnancy photos are perfect.

Afterwards, we all had a great time selecting maternity gowns and outfits from the studio wardrobe! Mom liked the darker colors, and we went with similar backdrops for a moodier vibe. The blacks and grays provided a great contrast with her lighter coloring. Dad also really liked the throne prop, so we incorporated that as well, which was such a fun touch!

Can’t wait to see this couple back again in a couple of months with their little one!

MN Cake Smash Photographer | Luka’s First Birthday Session

I had such a blast being the MN cake smash photographer for this handsome little man’s first birthday! Luka was such an easygoing baby, and the most adorable little birthday boy—I gushed over his curls the entire session.

I’m also totally jealous of this piano prop that mom and dad brought from home—I might just have to go out and buy something like it for my St. Cloud, MN photography studio! Dad is the musician of the family and actually has a recording studio at their house, which is so cool! We all thought Luka looked like a little Bruno Mars. :)

Mom requested no other props aside from the piano, so we kept things pretty minimalist. She liked the simple, clean look, which I also love! It made the photos from this first birthday photography session so timeless. I’m confident these photos will never go out of style!

Luka didn’t seem too hungry during the cake smash photography portion of our time together, but he was very excited about his bubble bath! There’s nothing like suds for good clean fun!

Maternity Photographer in Chanhassen MN | Johanne & Family

Did you all have a wonderful Christmas? I certainly hope so! And now it’s time for new beginnings and fresh starts. What better time to share the pregnancy pictures from Johanne’s beautiful maternity photography session?

Johanne and her family came to my photography studio in Chanhassen, MN to get some pictures together as they prepared to welcome a new arrival. Big sister was such a cutie, and very excited to help take care of the new little one. I’m sure she’ll be an awesome helper to Mom and Dad!

I also loved the intimate couples maternity portraits we were able to capture.

We picked out several beautiful maternity outfits from my client closet for Johanne to wear. The gold sequins went so beautifully with her dark hair and gorgeous skin.

The blue tulle is so fun and elegant—loved it paired with pearls!

And of course, you can’t go wrong with black. It’s one of those classics that is universally flattering and gives a sleek, modern vibe to photos.

Johanne was an absolutely stunning mom model! So glad I had the chance to work with her and meet her adorable family.

Newborn Baby Girl | St. Cloud, MN Newborn Photographer

Do you want a treat? Then check out the pictures from this sweet newborn baby girl’s photo session! It doesn’t get much more precious than this. That hair! Those cheeks! Her perfect little lips—I could go on, but there’s no need. Just keep scrolling!

We chose lots of nice fluffy textures for this baby girl’s pictures. I love cloud-soft swaddles and thick crocheted or knitted caps for baby photos.

The colors we picked out ended up being so pretty too! The white was just beautiful and gave our photos such a crisp, bright look. And the coral and lavender gave us the perfect amount of color to lend some variety and allow us to play around a little.

Like most babies, this little girl loved to be swaddled. (As a St. Cloud, MN newborn photographer, swaddles are one of my favorite things! They look great, and babies adore feeling all snuggly and safe in them.) She also did great with our other poses too. I really like the naked baby poses since they gave me a chance to highlight all those baby rolls and dimples!

Newborn & Family Photoshoot | Central MN Photographer

Anyone else excited for the holidays? I know I am! For me, holidays are all about family, which is why it was so nice to do this newborn and family photoshoot earlier this month. Lizbeth and Kevin brought their new baby girl Ariany to the studio for pictures—and Grandma was able to come too!

I had met Lizbeth earlier when I did her maternity session, so it was fantastic to have her back in the studio and to meet the rest of the family. Especially the new little arrival! Ariany was such a cutie and had the most beautiful dark hair. Everything about her was perfect—down to those tiny fingers and toes. (I couldn’t resist a few closeups).

Although we kept our family photos pretty neutral with grays and whites, we wanted to do all girl for the baby-only portion of this newborn and family photoshoot. What could be better than pink and gold? I think Ariany liked it too. We got a sweet half-awake smile out of her!

This family is totally in love with their new bundle, and who can blame them? I loved capturing all of them together.

Newborn Twins Photography Session | Emersyn & Sawyer

As a professional newborn photographer, there aren’t many things I enjoy more than photographing a baby—unless it’s photographing two! This was the sweetest newborn twins photography session!

These twin baby girls and their parents traveled all the way from Duluth, MN to my St. Cloud, MN photo studio. That’s quite a trip with two newborns in tow, but I’m so glad mom and dad were brave enough to do it! We got some absolutely beautiful pictures of their family that they will be able to treasure forever.

There’s no question that a newborn twins photography session presents some special challenges. But I’m always up for a challenge! With some extra prep work, photography tricks, and baby whisperer magic, photographing twins can go really smoothly and result in baby pictures that are twice as cute!

Although getting pictures of twins together is always so much fun, I also recommend that you get some individual baby portraits during your session as well. Every individual is unique, after all, and as your little ones grow and become more independent, they’ll enjoy having baby pictures that are just them!

Holiday Maternity Photos | St. Cloud, MN Photography Studio

It’s that time of year—time for presents, treats, and, if you’re getting ready to welcome a little one in the coming year, holiday maternity photos!

It was wonderful to welcome this mother-to-be to my St. Cloud, MN photography studio earlier this month. Since it was December, we wanted to do a holiday theme while still getting pictures that she could enjoy year-round. We decided that a red, green, white, and gold color scheme would be perfect! That way when mom mixes and matches the pictures she’ll get that festive vibe we wanted to capture, but she can also use the maternity pictures featuring white and gold for a more neutral look.

We picked out some really pretty outfits to show off that beautiful baby bump! If you’re planning a maternity photo session, don’t stress about what to wear. While you’re welcome to bring your own outfits, I also have plenty of choices at the photo studio.

And while you’re planning, keep props in mind too! They aren’t just for newborn pictures. As a St. Cloud, MN maternity photographer I also keep plenty that can be used for pregnancy pictures too. I loved the choice of the throne and angel wings for this mama—they played in perfectly to our holiday theme while still being great stand-alone props too.

Studio Newborn Photography | St. Cloud, MN

Isn’t this little bundle the cutest thing? I loved doing her studio newborn photography session earlier this month!

When baby’s photo session falls near a holiday, it’s always a tough choice: Should you do classic baby pictures that will last forever, or take advantage of the holiday theme? The good news is, you don’t have to choose! With this little sweetheart, we did both.

The majority of our session was focused around classic newborn portraits (with pretty pinks and golds) and newborn photos with parents. These are the photos that will last a lifetime, make wonderful gifts, and perfect home décor!

But of course, it’s December! So we also wanted to do a little Christmas flair. A tree, milk for Santa, and a baby-sized Santa hat gave us just the festive look we were going for! All you need is a few pics like this to make the cutest Christmas cards ever!

St. Cloud, MN Maternity Photographer

This was such a fun and beautiful session and I’m super excited to share the photos with all of you! Lidis was such a beauty and I loved being her St. Cloud, MN maternity photographer!

Lidis has that amazing combination of fair skin and dark hair that goes well with really deep jewel tones, so that’s mostly what we used for her maternity photography session. Maternity pictures with angel wings are another popular option right now, and it was so pretty to combine them with the red roses.

We also did some nude maternity pictures that turned out beautifully. Some women are a little nervous about doing these, but you really don’t need to be! I’ll tell you exactly how to pose and set up each shot. All you have to do is relax, look gorgeous, and know that your maternity photos are going to be stunning!

Newborn Photography Session | Chanhassen, MN

How cute is this little baby? It was extra fun to do his newborn photography session in my Chanhassen, MN photo studio because he was so wide awake. Most of the time babies sleep through their session—which is actually what newborn photographers aim for. After all, a sleeping baby is a happy baby! But when baby is calm and wakeful you can get some really fun shots with lots of personality! That was the case with this sweet pumpkin.

You can see that he did sleep a little bit, but mostly he was very interested in everything that was going on and just wanted to check it out. It was so cute to capture those big, gray-blue baby eyes as he stared at me and my camera. He even managed to stay awake for some of the time he was swaddled—which usually gets babies to sleep pretty fast!

I love the fluffy textures we went with for a lot of the outfits and props. Most people think of color first when deciding on the theme of their newborn photography session. But playing around with different textures is another great way to make your pictures stand out.

Newborn Photo Session | St. Cloud, Minnesota

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! I love the chance to take a minute and count my blessings—one of which is that I’m so lucky to have a job I absolutely love! Just take a peek at the images from this newborn photo session. Who wouldn’t want to work with a cutie like this?

Mom, Dad, and big sister joined us for newborn pictures at my St. Cloud, Minnesota newborn photo studio. We got a few cute family picture, but big sis wasn’t interested in doing more than a couple of sibling photos, and we didn’t push it. A new baby is a big adjustment for everyone, and sometimes it’s best to let older siblings have some time to get used to the idea!

I loved the pretty handmade blanket that mom brought. Such pretty colors! I also thought it was super cute how big sister’s dress mirrored the stripes and colors in the blankie. Mom also brought a headband and the pink bonnet, which she made herself. Such a fun and beautiful personal touch!

Chanhassen, MN Newborn Photography Session | New Baby Brother

Had such a great time doing this Chanhassen, MN newborn photography session to welcome a new baby brother to the family! This little guy was a total cutie. He had great chubby cheeks and I loved the way his fluffy hair stuck up all over his head. Plus, he gave me some super cute facial expressions too!

We chose some classic boy colors like blue and gray to form the main part of our color scheme. But we also mixed up some different shades of blue to give us variety.

Big brother did a great job of posing for pictures and cuddling his new little pal during our Chanhassen, MN newborn photography session. It’s always fun to include parents and siblings! What a great little group!

The little man slept through most of our session, but we were also lucky enough to get several shots of him with his eyes open. It’s nice as a newborn photographer when you get a baby who stays calm when they’re awake too, as it gives you the opportunity to get some neat shots that feel a bit more interactive.

St. Cloud, MN Newborn Photographer | Baby Amaiia and Family

As promised when I blogged her mom’s maternity session, here are the photos of baby Amaiia! In my work as a St. Cloud, MN newborn photographer, it’s always so fun when I get to do mom’s maternity session first. Why? Because then I get to know mom (and sometimes family) a bit and can look forward to seeing them again as well as meeting the new little one! I was so glad that baby girl’s mom, dad, and big brothers could all make it back to my St. Cloud, MN newborn photo studio.

The boys had been so excited about welcoming a new baby to the family when I first met them at mom’s maternity session. And Amaiia did not disappoint! They were clearly besotted with her and did such a great job holding and snuggling their new little bundle. We got the sweetest baby and sibling pictures!

One of the many things I loved about Amaiia was her hair! Absolutely gorgeous—and so much of it! I was literally brushing her hair with every set change and headband swap. I found that if I brushed it straight down it was so long that it was basically in her eyes. :)

The dark colors we picked out for this baby girl’s photo session were so pretty. As a St. Cloud, MN newborn photographer, I love the classic color combos, of course. But it’s also really fun when people choose something kind of outside the box!

So good to see this family again and create more beautiful memories together!

St. Cloud, MN Maternity Photographer | Kelly’s Maternity Session with Family

What a pleasure to be the St. Cloud, MN maternity photographer for Kelly and her family as they prepared to welcome a new arrival! (I’ve since welcomed baby Amaiia to my studio for baby pictures—keep an eye out on the blog for those photos coming soon!)

It was such a treat to do a maternity session with the whole family! As well as Kelly herself, dad and both their boys were able to make it too, so we got some beautiful maternity and family photos! The boys were so excited about the new baby—they’re going to be amazing big brothers!

Of course, we also made sure to get plenty of maternity portraits with just Kelly. As a St. Cloud, MN maternity photographer, I love the opportunity to show off just how beautiful motherhood is! Kelly and I had fun choosing some beautiful (and yes—even sexy!) outfits that highlighted that baby bump and were just perfect with her skin tone and dark hair.

I know these photos are going to be so much fun for Kelly and her family to look back on. What a great way to get ready for baby—with a photo experience you’ll remember forever!

Eden Prairie, MN Newborn Photographer

Little Joaquin was too cute! I had a great time being his Eden Prairie, MN newborn photographer! His session is a great example of what you can do with a simple color scheme and just a few props and outfits.

This sweet baby boy had the best bedhead! We decided to accentuate it with a PJ-style onesie, and our baby pictures turned out absolutely adorable.

Like most newborns, he also loved to be swaddled, so we did several wrapped poses as well—including for our newborn and family photos. I’ve found that a quick way to calm down a fussy baby is often to wrap them up nice and snug. Joaquin wasn’t a bit fussy though. As you can see, he slept like a dream, and we just swaddled him because it’s a super cute newborn pose!

Another pose that’s always a hit is baby in a bucket. We doubled the cute factor with a cowboy hat just the right size for our little man!

Chanhassen, MN Newborn Photographer

I love all my sessions as a Chanhassen, MN newborn photographer, but I’ll admit—this one was extra special! Mom told me that when it came to naming their daughter, they wanted something that had meaning as well. Since she brought so much joy to her parents lives they decided that Joy it was! This sweet baby girl certainly brought some of that to my newborn photo studio in Chanhassen as well.

It was so great to see the love this little family has for each other. Mom and Dad were cheering Joy on through the entire session: telling her what a great job she was doing, how beautiful she was, and even encouraging her to smile. It was an especially heartwarming session, and Joy did a wonderful job.

Mom is from Jamaica and Dad is from Ghana, and they’re both doctors. They met at a clinic in Ghana when Mom was on a mission trip there…and the rest is history! We incorporated some special touches to represent Joy’s cultural heritage during our newborn photo session: Mom picked out traditional Jamaican colors for their newborn and family photos. And the gorgeous piece of fabric around Joy’s wrap is from Mom’s wedding dress.

St. Cloud, MN Baby Photographer

It was so fun to be the St. Cloud, MN baby photographer for this family before they left the States. Mom and Dad met online and did the long-distance relationship thing for a while, and fell in love! After they got married they lived in Thailand for a year or two, where Mom and her family are from, and then moved to the US. They’re back to Thailand this month though to help her family with a business they’re starting, and wanted to get some baby and family photos captured before leaving. I’m so glad they came to me!

We chose pretty minimalist backdrops for our pictures, and a couple of different outfits for the family. It’s amazing what a variety you can get with just a few props!

Their baby isn’t such a baby anymore—Peyton is a year old and as handsome as they come! He did a wonderful job for photos and we got a great combination of posed pictures and candid shots.

Chanhassen, MN 1st Birthday Cake Smash

Another super fun (and adorable) 1st birthday cake smash session—this time at my Chanhassen, MN studio location. (If you didn’t know, Tiny Hearts Studio has 2 locations, one in St. Cloud and one in Chanhassen, MN, to better serve our clients!)

We started off this session with some one-year milestone baby portraits. I got the studio all decorated with flowers and baskets, and we got the birthday girl all dressed up in a beautiful party dress! She looked great and was such a happy little thing. No problem getting smiles and cute poses out of this girl!

And then on to the main event! I thought it was fun that mom chose a completely different color scheme for the 1st birthday cake smash part of our session. Baby girl was a little distracted by all the balloons at first, but once we got her attention focused on the cake she was all about it! You can see she dug in quite nicely once she’d gotten used to the idea of frosting on her fingers.
